Common Vehicle Wrap Questions
1. What is a Vehicle Wrap?
A vehicle wrap is the application of a specially designed vinyl film that adheres to a vehicle’s painted surface. The film can be a solid color, or
can be printed with commercial grade large format printers. Vehicle wraps have become a key component in the marketing toolbox of nearly every type of
business, due to their effectiveness and low cost per impression.
2. How much does a Vehicle Wrap cost?
There are several factors to the cost of a Vehicle Wrap: Design Time, Materials, Printing, and Installation. The size of the vehicle, the amount of the vehicle to be wrapped and type of vehicle all contribute to the total cost.
3. What are the different types of Vehicle Wraps?
Get familiar with what’s going on locally (or not locally) that draws a crowd of potential clients for your business. Even if you don’t personally attend those events, your wrapped vehicle can. Vehicle wrap marketing is all about taking advantage of these opportunities.
4. Does a Vehicle Wrap damage your paint?
No- in fact, the paint under the Vehicle Wrap is protected from the sun’s UV rays, exposure to the elements, and minor scratches. A wrap will not affect the resale value of your vehicle.
5. What materials are Vehicle Wraps made from?
Vehicle Wraps are made from a high-performance vinyl with a clear overlaminate that will stand up to years of weather and the elements. It’s important to ask your wrap provider what materials will be used, as there are a number of inexpensive alternatives which will likely fail prematurely. Look for name brand films and laminates like 3m or Avery.
6. How long does it take to install a Vehicle Wrap?
The installation is usually completed within a few days, depending on the size of the vehicle and difficulty of the wrap. Professional installation requires the vehicle remains inside climate controlled conditions for a minimum of 24 hours after completion. This allows the adhesive to fully cure, preventing premature failure down the road.
7. How do you remove a Vehicle Wrap?
We recommend that a professional remove the Vehicle Wrap within the lifespan of the product which is typically 3-5 years. When removed by a professional, there will be no leftover adhesive residue leaving the vehicle clean as the day it was originally wrapped.
8. How long does a Vehicle Wrap last?
On an average permanent application the Vehicle Wrap graphics will last up to 5 years, with the window areas lasting about 2 years. Horizontal surfaces such as hoods and roofs will have a shorter lifespan due to greater exposure from the elements. Regular routine cleaning and waxing will help maximize the lifespan of any vehicle wrap.
9. Can you wash a Vehicle Wrap?
Yes, you can hand wash your Vehicle Wrap, but we recommend that you DO NOT pressure wash your vehicle as this will likely damage the wrap.
10. Do Vehicle Wraps come with a warranty?
Yes, most vinyl manufacturers offer a material warranty which protects against defects and premature failure. Airgraphix offers warranties which cover materials and installation, with a yearly inspection requirement.
